Ready for WorkChoices? (25 May 2006)

Many of the changes introduced in the Australian Federal Government's new workplace relations system, WorkChoices, took effect from 27 March. As these changes are implemented, employers need to familiarise themselves with the changes. The impact of WorkChoices includes:

changes in the way you calculate, record or manage employees' leave entitlements
eligible employees being able to cash out up to two weeks of their credited annual leave entitlements every 12 months
eligible employees being entitled to ten days of paid personal/carer's leave per year

We encourage you talk to your relevant industry employers' association about how you might be affected. You can also seek clarification from the WorkChoices Infoline on 1300 363 264 or visit www.workchoices.gov.au.
